Special traffic controls will be in effect in the Downtown, Kakaako, Ala Moana, for the 2020 Honolulu Marathon Kings Runner 10K on Sunday, March 1st, 2020.
Beginning at 5:00 AM, one or more lanes will be closed and/or coned until the athletes complete that section of the course. Roadways will be progressively opened as the athletes clear each area. Tow-Away zones are in effect from 1:00 AM until 5:00 PM Sunday. The Kings Runner starts at Thomas Square at 6:45 AM.
Kings Runner 10K Route
The route runs westbound along S. Kings St, to Punchbowl Street, right onto Punchbowl Street right onto Pohukaina Street, left onto Keawe St., cross Ala Moana Boulevard remaining on Keawe St., then straight into Kakaako Waterfront Park (ewa end), runners will run along the waterfront promenade and exit onto Ahui Street, right on Ward St. extension, right on Ala Moana Blvd, enter Ala Moana Beach Park to the tennis courts, around the keyhole at the tennis courts then return to ewa end of Ala Moana Beach Park, exit back onto Ala Moana Blvd, left on Ward Street extension, left on Ahui and re-enter waterfront park at the Diamond Head end, run the promenade, exit onto Keawe Street, cross Ala Moana Blvd., left on Pohukaina Street, left on South Street, left on S. King St., left on Victoria St and Sinish.
The Following Roadways will be Closed or Restricted on Sunday, March 1st 2020
Victoria Street from Beretania St. to S. Kings Street will be down to one lane from 6:15 AM. Should be back to normal approximately 10:00 am.
S. King Street from Victoria Street to Punchbowl Street will have 2 right lanes closed from 5:00 AM. Ala Moana Boulevard, should be re-opened at approximately 9:00 am.
Punchbowl Street to Pohukaina Street will have 2 left lanes closed from 5:15 AM.
Pohukaina Street to Keawe Street will be contra-Slowed to South Street from 5:30 AM.
Keawe Street to Ala Moana Blvd from Pohukaina Street closed in both directions from 5:30 AM.
Keawe Street to Ilalo in both directions from Ala Moana Blvd to Ilalo from 5:00 AM.
Ahui Street to Ilalo will be closed to Waterfront Park from 5:15 AM.
Ahui Street to Ward Ave Extension to Ward Ave. east side will be closed from 5:30 AM.
Ward Ave. to Ala Moana Beach Park Ewa Entrance 2 lanes east bound will be closed from 5:30 AM.
Some bus routes will be canceled and/or detoured.
